Small changes, big Google ranking moves
There is a saying: little hinges swing big doors. It is true in local SEO more than almost anywhere else.
We had a Charlotte client stuck on page two for their main service. Nothing was technically wrong. The profile was complete. Reviews were coming in. The website looked fine.
We changed one thing. The primary category. Moved it from a broad parent category to a more specific child category that better described what they actually sold.
Three weeks later they were in the top three on the map.
Other examples of tiny changes that have moved real Charlotte clients:
- Adding the neighborhood name to the H1 on the homepage
- Adding three service descriptions to the profile that were previously blank
- Replacing the stock hero photo with a real job photo from the city
- Asking the last 10 happy customers for a review in the same week
None of these take more than a morning. Combined, they move the needle more than most six-month SEO retainers.
If you want the full checklist we run on every local SEO in Charlotte engagement, it's all on the local SEO page.
