Why Google sends your customers to your competitors

You know your service. You do good work. Customers love you. So why is Google still sending people who are searching for exactly what you do to the business down the road?

Almost always, it comes down to one of three things.

Your Google Business Profile is half-built. No service area, generic category, three photos from 2019, no posts. Google needs a complete profile to trust you. An empty profile tells Google you might not even be open.

Your website does not match your profile. Your profile says you do drain cleaning. Your website never mentions drain cleaning. Google notices that mismatch and ranks the competitor whose site actually talks about drain cleaning in Charlotte.

Your reviews stopped. A business with no reviews in the last 90 days looks dormant to Google, no matter how busy you actually are.

The fix is not glamorous. Finish the profile. Make the website say what you actually do, in the city you actually do it. Ask customers for reviews every single week. Most of your local competitors will not do any of that. Which is exactly why this works.
